Elac Artstudio

After being a hobby artist for a few years, I only took it up seriously as therapy for myself after taking time to look after my husband Brian following his stroke and found a great passion for this creative outlet.

I am a commission-only artist with a gift for capturing the essence of each subject and truly believe that each art piece is very special. Therefore, I work intuitively to capture and preserve the true personality of each character.

If you are on the lookout for something unique, special, and different for an anniversary, birthday, or xmas, a portrait of your favourite human or pet may be just the go!

You choose your pet or subject and I will paint you an original painting in oils, working with an earnest intent to capture the essence of your beloved. Paintings are usually done on a stretched canvas frame, or on a composite panel if you wish to frame it yourself.

All paintings are created in oil on canvas the old-fashioned way - one stroke at a time. Each painting generally takes between 3-8 weeks to complete, especially as oils have to dry.

I welcome all inquiries, so feel free to reach out to me on the contact page for a chat about your idea!

I work closely with my clients and if requested often send progress shots of the painting as it emerges.  Some clients prefer to be surprised and I am pleased to say that I have never had a disappointed client!  For animal portraits, it helps if I can meet the pet, but often times pets have crossed that rainbow bridge so I am happy to work from a photo or two. I do require that the photos are of good quality as I cannot paint what I cannot see.

My artwork is often described as colourful and expressive, and I will often spend a lot of time contemplating the subject before I start the painting as I like to tune in to the essence of whoever it is that I am painting so that I can discern colours, preferences and personality.

I paint mostly only in oils (however sometimes I might lay an acrylic underpainting down) using both palette knives and brushes and am proud to support Art Spectrum Oils which is 100% Australian made and family owned with a strong artistic philosophy.

50% deposit is due at the time of order by bank deposit with the remainder due at end of painting.  I have a waiting time of between 3 - 8 weeks as I often work on more than one painting at a time to allow for drying time between layers. ~ Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) Fundraiser ~

I am very proud to be an official fundraiser for the local Animal Welfare League Qld!

AWLQ is a not-for-profit, non-government funded charity organization that cares for over 10,000 stray and abandoned animals each year throughout South East Queensland. As an official fundraiser, 10% of every painting commission will be donated to AWLQ in support of the Pets in Crisis program. This program helps animals caught between owners that are involved in domestic violence situations.

I am so excited to participate in this great initiative!
